  • Your France Villa Holiday

With a French villa holiday, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of your own private accommodation, but also explore the vibrant resorts, quaint towns and fascinating regions of France.

Treat yourself to a villa holiday in the Côte D’Azur, and relish the Mediterranean climate as you dip into your private pool for a refreshing swim, or sunbathe in your villa’s garden.

Self-catering in France is as easy as it is a pleasure, and you can create tasty family meals from the delicacies you’ll find at the local markets; not to mention the freshly made baguettes and croissants from a local bakery.

There are many beautiful villas to rent in France, making for an idyllic setting from which to enjoy this wonderful destination and all it has to offer.

  • About France

France is a fantastically vast, beautiful and varied country. Our villas are located in Southern France, in the Côte D’Azur and Provence areas of the country. Côte D’Azur is a favourite destination for many holidaymakers because of the beautiful beaches of Antibes and the delicious, freshly caught fish they can enjoy at Cagnes-sur-Mer’s harbour-side restaurants.

In the Provence region of France, wander the vast fields of lavender and yellow rapeseed flowers, taking in the wonderful smells. Sample the local Provençal cuisine, dining on bowls of warming ratatouille and sweet, crispy pastry desserts as you take in the captivating culture of Van Gogh’s favourite city, Arles, and the rich history of Avignon.

  • When to go to France

The best time to visit France depends on the region you’ll be visiting, but in general the climate is similar to that of the UK. In the south of France you’ll experience a much warmer, Mediterranean climate with sun-drenched summers and mild winters. The best time of the year to go would be between April and September, when you’ll be able to enjoy the beaches of Antibes and Nice.

  • Cultural Highlights

If you’re an admirer of art, then you’ll love St Tropez. Many painters were inspired by this beautiful town, specifically Paul Signac who was followed by many other great artists, including Henri Matisse. Visit the town’s Le Musee de L’Annonciade where you’ll get the chance to gaze at the gallery’s collection of paintings, including great examples of Fauvism and Post-Impressionism.

The food of Provence can arguably be the sole reason for choosing a French villa holiday in the south of France, from a bowl of delicious, fresh Bouillabaisse fish stew, to refreshing Soupe au Pistou with freshly baked baguettes - a great summer-time lunch. If you’re cooking back at your villa, take a morning trip to Antibes to take advantage of the Marché Provençal. This wonderful market is open every morning between June and August selling fresh fruit and vegetables, locally caught fish and beautiful bouquets of flowers.

  • France Holidays - Points of Interest

    • Enjoy a boat trip to the Calanques in Cassis, Côte D’Azur. The rocky, mountainous landscape, crystal clear pools of azure water and incredible views will truly take your breath away.
    • Travel to Arles to admire the incredible Roman Amphitheatre and the rest of the city’s Roman ruins – a great chance to explore such a well-preserved and historic area of France.
    • To escape the bustling cities and towns, head to Gorges du Verdon for serene turquoise lakes, emerald forests and enchanting views. You will have the chance to kayak and rock climb during your visit, too.
    • Fancy a scenic drive? Why not explore some of France’s beautiful wine regions; from the Rhône Valley to Languedoc-Roussillon for a glass of refreshing white, it will make for the perfect day out.
    • For a true Côte D’Azur treat go to Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. This light pink villa is open for the public to explore, and is surrounded by blossoming gardens of Provençal flowers and plants.

Antibes is a lovely little town with lots of character and beaches. Nice old town is also worth a visit, with numerous shops and eateries. Biot is a surprisingly lively little village with a great market on Tuesdays. Lac de Saint Cassien is less than an hour away and worth a visit for doing some reasonably priced water sports.
The area is quite expensive and food on the whole was not as impressive as we had expected. Without GPS, it is difficult to find places - lots of roundabouts and signage is not always clear. Airport hire car situation is a disaster! We arrived in Terminal 1 but hire cars are all now out of Terminal 2, so you have to take a shuttle. The queue was nearly 3 hours on a very hot day, with nowhere for the family to sit. Avis didn't give us the car we had chosen and everyone seemed to be arguing about additional charges.

Beautiful area, quiet, rural. Little villages with markets, the lake for swimming. Perfect.
Travelling via Nice airport was dire and we will actively avoid it in future. Long queues in the airport both ways, and horrendous queues for car hire.

Grasse was a good day visit. Some good restaurants in the area.
The crowds. There are too many people to make it a good area to go on holiday.
