There can be few panoramas more beautiful than the one savoured from Sunset Villa as the sun goes down over the nearby Elaphite Islands. This incredible property, built into the hillside just a few miles from the celebrated city of Dubrovnik, is a true gem that’s perfect for a group of friends or families with older children.
If you haven’t yet discovered the joys of Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, look no further than Sunset Villa as your holiday base. This breath-takingly lovely villa occupies a magnificent spot on the rugged hillside just outside the small town of Orasac and close to Zaton Bay.
Dazzlingly white against a backdrop of verdant cypress trees, the villa’s ultra-contemporary design is chic and sophisticated, with tiers of steel-railed balconies reminiscent of a smart superyacht. Cleverly designed to maximise its superb vantage point from every angle, Sunset Villa offers stunning sea views at any time of day.
The ground floor is in fact the uppermost tier, where you’ll find an exquisite elongated living room with floor-to-ceiling glass doors to enjoy the full panorama. Beautifully furnished with suede and leather seating, colourful rugs and modern artwork, it’s a magical place to witness the nightly sunset display over a chilled aperitif.
Open plan to the lounge is a fully fitted kitchen and stylish dining area with dramatic modern chandeliers and a striking glass-topped table that comfortably seats eight for dinner.
Downstairs, the accommodation is divided between two lower floors and comprises four superbly appointed, double bedrooms, each one individually designed to an exotic African style. Each one has a balcony or outside terrace with wicker seating so you can also enjoy the views in private. The bathrooms, three of which are en suite, are meticulously appointed with elegant slate tiles and the highest quality fittings.
The outside space has been landscaped with great attention to detail, from the cypress trees and spiky succulents, precisely planted on whitewashed terracing, to the enticing infinity pool designed to melt into the distant waters of the bay. Stylish sun loungers and daybeds are thoughtfully placed to enjoy both sun and shade and there’s a wonderful verandah where you can dine alfresco on barbecued steaks or the freshest seafood purchased from nearby Zaton Bay.
The delightful resort of Sun Gardens, with its wide range of sports facilities, fabulous spa and array of first class restaurants, is just a short drive from the villa. Here, you can also find a pretty shingle beach to bathe in the famously crystal clear waters of the Adriatic.
At least one visit to the stunningly beautiful city of Dubrovnik is a must during your stay. Its distinctive baroque architecture, ancient city walls and marble streets are simply captivating, with the huge main square a magnet for people watching, as is the picturesque marina where you’ll find dozens of yachts and fishing boats bobbing in the turquoise waters.
It’s almost impossible to gaze at the pretty Elaphite Islands from your villa every day without being tempted to hop in a boat and explore. Day trips run from the port at Dubrovnik and allow you to explore several islands in a day, taking the odd dip in the deliciously cool waters and strolling on deserted beaches.
And when it’s time to head back to the villa, there’s still the joy of another spectacular sunset in prospect to round off another perfect day. Magical.
This villa is not suitable for children due to an open staircase and the railing design at this villa.
