When to go to Italy
Italy has gloriously warm summers with the hottest temperatures being in August, and it’s generally warm from May to September, too. If you enjoy the sunshine but don’t want to go during the hottest period then April to June and September to October are the perfect times for you to go. The climate varies quite a lot throughout the country, with weather being warmer the further south you go.
Italy is blessed with many fascinating landmarks and interesting places to visit. For a piece of history, head over to the Valley of Temples, or Valle Dei Templi, in Sicily, a prime example of Ancient Greek art and design. Walk past detailed sculptures of historical and mythical figures, and gaze at the towering stone columns.
Take a glimpse into a Roman town that existed over 2,000 years ago. The ruins of Pompeii near Naples were covered by ash following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, leaving behind a fascinating, well-preserved archaeological site to explore.
Pisa is also worth a visit if you want to see the extremely famous leaning tower of Pisa. It is an impressive and remarkable example of Roman architecture as well as an iconic photograph opportunity.

The local area is beautiful. Centrally located for visiting Pisa, Luca, Florence and more local places like Volterra which we enjoyed the most. There is a lovely restaurant a couple ok km’s away which serves great local food reasonably priced and a very welcoming owner.
When travelling to the bigger tourist spot be careful, I know we all know about pick pockets in the busy times but my husband still got his wallet stolen in Florence on a tram from an inside zipped pocket of his jacket which was also zipped. When we reported it to the police they said this is not unusual as they are like magicians when doing this now and he was lucky to still have his watch. So please be careful!!!!

Hunstanton Family with all adults
Lots of historical and religious sites to visit. Very laid back and relaxing. It is great to explore the real Tuscany by visiting the small villages off the beaten track.
Most local people eat late at night so many restaurants did not open until 8pm which could cause issues if you have young children.
