Why Menorca for Families?

Three young children with inflatables splashing around in a swimming pool

Easy-going ambience and effortless entertainment puts Menorca firmly at the top of the family-friendly holiday map. With only a two and a half hour flight time between the UK and the beautiful Balearic island, you'll be making memories in your private pool before you know it! Over 100 beaches line the captivating coastline. Shallow waters and gently sloping sands are perfect for your little ones to paddle, while wet and wonderful watersports are waiting for big kids with a wild side!

A whole host of indoor and outdoor activities mean you're sorted whatever the weather, although with more than 300 days of sunshine a year there's little need to think about 'Plan B'. Villas with gated pools (for those playful little water babies) and game rooms (for those competitive teens) offer up plenty of 'in-house' entertainment for chilled evenings together. And once the kids have crashed and burned from all the excitement, you can make the most of the peace and quiet on your private balcony, soaking in the picture-perfect panoramic views.

Menorca's Main Attractions for Families

Beautiful coastal path with fence. Looking out over blue waters and bobbing boats.

A UNESCO biosphere reserve, Menorca is the Balearic beauty in which nature reigns. Beaches, valleys, caves, wetlands, sand dunes, hills, ponds and streams all make up gentle landscapes ideal for family activities like hiking, cycling or horse riding. The Albufera Natural Park des Grau is at the heart of the reserve, covering over 5,000 hectares of land and water. Three short walking routes are signposted and all offer up easy ambling options. The centre also carries out guided tours and activities for curious campers!

One of the most famous walking routes is the Camí de Cavalls, 185km of track running along the captivating coastline. Divided into 20 stages of five to ten kilometres, the path is well signposted and is marked by wooden stakes every 50 or so metres. Good news for the geographically challenged – it's almost impossible to get lost! If walking seems like hard work, get on your bike. Literally! Cycle routes cover the island and there's plenty of hire shops to choose from too.

A submarine level, main deck and sun deck make for happiness on the high seas! Marvel at the marine life, or top up your tan and take in the beautiful vistas from the top deck. Enjoy panoramic views of the seabed through four underwater chambers as you glide through the crystal clear Mediterranean.

Amazing Animals

The zoological park of Lloc de Menorca is home to a wide range of native species, as well as exotic animals from all over the world – all of which have been rescued. Fun and educational, the zoo can be explored in an afternoon and its small scale makes it perfect for little legs! Wander through a touch room, where young kids can enjoy stroking and feeding wallabies and emus. Go deep into the lemur's forest where you can watch these friendly and curious animals as they play. Get hands on at the petting zoo and up close and personal to this collection of wonderful critters – a guaranteed hit with the kids!

Get wet and wild at one of Menorca's show-stopping waterparks. It's fun for all the family, whether you're after an adrenaline fix or a tranquil soak in a Jacuzzi. Cala Blanes' Los Delfines Aqua Center is a haven for waterslide worshippers and lazy river lovers alike. An energetic hub of entertainment and facilities, get ready for some of the greatest slides on the island. The two-seater Black Hole and the Kamikaze are perfect for thrill-seeking teens, while gentle chutes are on hand for the less confident water babies. There's fun to be had out of the pool too with go-karting and gorgeous gardens.

The Aquarock waterpark in the resort of Cala en Bosch is one of the largest parks in Menorca. As well as the usual culprits, there's a large pool complete with a wave machine, a splash pool for the youngsters with small slides and a whirlpool for mum and dad to sit back and relax in. Fun out of the water includes go-karting and a trampoline park! A great way to tire out the happy campers – someone's going to sleep well tonight!

Beautiful turquoise waters lap against white sands. Cliffs sit in the background against a bright blue sky.

Menorca's shores are home to 216km of coastline and often compared to the crème de la crème of the Caribbean – no mean feat! Fine white sands, craggy coves and breathtakingly blue waters have been mesmerising visitors for decades. And the best bit? They're much closer to home.

The south of the island is carpeted with lush green vegetation on limestone grounds, with some of the most family friendly beaches readily accessible. In the north you can expect rugged, rocky coastline – perfect for your band of intrepid explorers!

Son Bou, Punta Prima and Santo Thomas all sit pretty on southern shores. Golden sands stretch out for miles and boast some of the cleanest water of the island – even in high season! Santo Thomas' waters stay shallow for many metres beyond the shore, so your little ones can get splash happy and you can rest easy. Shops, bars and restaurants are all a stone's throw away and walkways are easily accessible for pushchairs.
