Food & Diningin the area of Cala d'Or

Food and dining at S'Horta, Cala d'Or

As with most busy resorts in Mallorca there is a wide variety of pavement cafes and tapas bars. Try the local fish or tapas in the centre or find a local roadside restaurant (look for local cars and taxis parked outside to experience the food the locals eat) and try the Pimientos de Padron (fried green peppers - sometimes you'll find a hot one..) and a leg or shoulder of lamb for mains. If you like Rioja wines, try a local red from Binisalem and taste how far the Mallorcans have advanced in wine production!

Excursions and Places of interest at S'Horta, Cala d'Or

Vineyards

There are several vineyards in Mallorca with the majority around the town of Binisalem, south of Inca.

Closest to the south east are Miguel Oliver in Petra, Vi d'auba in Felanitx and Pere Seda - Manacor.

Natural areas of beauty

Head south to the Mondrago Natural Park, an area of outstanding beauty protected against development and boasting two wonderful beaches - Cala Mondrago and S'Amarador - where you will find soft, white natural sand and turquoise waters.

The old town

S'Horta is a small village in the municipality of Felanitx and whilst there is a small, main square and a handful of shops, most locals go to the main town, Felanitx for shopping and entertainment.

Felanitx is a typical Mallorcan agricultural town with numerous shops, cafés and restaurants all surrounding the impressive church of San Miguel, scene of a great disaster in 1844 when the walls of the church fell and killed 414 people taking part in the Palm Sunday procession.

There is a weekly market held every Sunday morning.
