Ideal for families, Marbesa is a quiet urbanization located on the coast between the popular resorts of Marbella and Calahonda. Boasting a long sandy beach as well as a handful of delectable beach bars and restaurants, this really is the ideal base for a beach holiday on the Costa del Sol. Lush and green, the resort slopes downwards from the main road towards the beach and makes a peaceful retreat. A walk along the beach will take you to the wonderful port of Cabopino on one side, and the lively Nikki beach club in Elviria on the other.

Marbesa offers a selection of high standard bars and restaurants mainly located along the beach front, where you can find some great places to stop and eat a few specialising in fresh fish. If you were looking for a more lively evening you are walking distance from the famous Nikki beach and close by to the bustling resort centre on Marbella.
The magical Tivoli World at nearby Benalmadena offers plenty of fun for all the family, with fairground rides, amusement stalls, go-karts, train tours and variety shows to suit visitors of all ages. Set in beautiful gardens with illuminated fountains and an array of bars and eateries to choose from, you can happily spend all evening here. Opening hours vary according to the time of year, with summer evenings open until 1am.
Selwo Marina Delfinarium
This charming park between Marbesa and Benalmadena is dedicated to dolphins, sea lions and exotic birds, with entertaining and educational shows and opportunities for interactive experiences both in and out of the water, including swimming with sea lions. There’s also a delightful playground and on-site restaurants so you can take your time and explore at your own pace.
Representing a new concept of zoo, the Bioparc emphasises respect for nature and the preservation of species by recreating the natural habitats from various eco-systems around the world and encouraging the animals to live side-by-side. It’s known as an ‘immersion zoo’ where visitors can take a guided walk right through tropical woodland and discover the interaction between animals as well as learning about the environment. Open daily throughout the year, the park is in the centre of Fuengirola, just a short drive from Marbesa.
Funny Beach Marbella
Far more than a go-karting venue, Funny Beach is the ideal venue for lovers of speed, adrenaline and sheer fun. As well as go-karting both for adults and kids, there are trampolines, bumper boats and electric vehicles, not to mention an array of water sports and a beach club in the summer months. It’s located right on the beach just to the east of Marbella.
The largest water park on the Costa del Sol, Aqualand is located at Torremolinos, around a 30 minute drive from Marbesa. Fabulous fun for the whole family, the park boasts dozens of thrilling waterslides, adrenaline-fuelled rafts and rapids, a wave pool and a dedicated children’s pool that will keep the little ones entertained for hours. With rides sporting names such as Kamikaze, Twister, Black Hole and Boomerang, you know you’re in for an exciting day out.
Sea Life Aquarium Benalmadena
A great family day out, the Sea Life Aquarium provides hours of fun as well as informative talks and activities based on sea life of all shapes and sizes. Sharks, giant turtles, rays and seahorses are just some of the star attractions, with a fabulous underwater tunnel offering exceptional close-up views. The centre is open daily year-round.
Nikki Beach Marbella
One of the Costa del Sol’s coolest beach clubs and host to numerous party events throughout the summer season, Nikki Beach is located adjacent to the finest sandy beach, fringed with elegant palm trees, between Marbesa and Marbella. Boasting a large swimming pool, dozens of chic day beds and sun loungers, a trendy octagon-shaped bar and a beautiful restaurant, it’s a fun place to hang out for the day and into the evening.
Often overlooked in favour of its more widely known neighbours Marbella and Puerto Banus, the tiny harbour of Puerto Cabopino is a picturesque spot for lunch or supper, flanked by golden beaches and pine forests. There are some excellent bars and restaurants to choose from, not to mention chic yachts and speedboats to admire.
