Dining in La Cala de Mijas is charming with most restaurant in a prime location on the beach front, dining styles vary here from casual to fine dining. You experience some local Spanish paella or some more international cuisine. One not to miss for the location of the restaurants making a wonderful dining setting.
Although La Cala de Mijas is one of the smaller resorts it is still packed with dining out choices. You can find everything from typically Spanish restaurants, seafood, a Goan Indian Restaurant and Thai to a good old English pub. If you are looking for even more choices or a more lively evening you are not far from the bustling resort centre of Fuengirola.
Representing a new concept of zoo, the Bioparc emphasises respect for nature and the preservation of species by recreating the natural habitats from various eco-systems around the world and encouraging the animals to live side-by-side. It’s known as an ‘immersion zoo’ where visitors can take a guided walk right through tropical woodland and discover the interaction between animals as well as learning about the environment. Open daily throughout the year, the park is in the centre of nearby Fuengirola.
Less than half an hour away at Benalmadena, the magical Tivoli World offers plenty of fun for all the family, with fairground rides, amusement stalls, go-karts, train tours and variety shows to suit visitors of all ages. Set in beautiful gardens with illuminated fountains and an array of bars and eateries to choose from, you can happily spend all evening here. Opening hours vary according to the time of year, with summer evenings open until 1am.
Parque Aquatico Mijas
The largest water park on the Costa del Sol, Aquamijas is designed for pure fun in the sun, with a huge variety of pools offering everything from rolling waves to relaxing lagoons. There are waterslides of every shape and size to suit thrill-seekers of all ages as well as plenty of sunbathing areas, a bar and a restaurant. The park is generally open from May to September and is only 10 minutes’ drive from La Cala de Mijas.
Twenty minutes west at the heart of Marbella’s Old Town is the delightful Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange Tree Square), its charming alfresco restaurants shaded by leafy orange trees. The surrounding buildings are full of character, many dating from the 15th and 16th centuries and with a blend of Arabic, Gothic and Renaissance architecture. From here you can wander down numerous cobbled streets to discover dozens of individual boutiques, taps bars and cafés.
Nikki Beach Marbella
One of the Costa del Sol’s coolest beach clubs and host to numerous party events throughout the summer season, Nikki Beach is located adjacent to the finest sandy beach, fringed with elegant palm trees, a few minutes’ east of Marbella. Boasting a large swimming pool, dozens of chic day beds and sun loungers, a trendy octagon-shaped bar and a beautiful restaurant, it’s a fun place to hang out for the day and into the evening.
