The Vinuela Reservoir provides a stunning landscape for a day out or family picnic. A visitor centre provides information on nearby hiking trails, sporting activities such as canoeing and local restaurants serving typical dishes such as gazpacho (cold tomoato soup) and roast lamb.
Aquavelis water park is located in Torre del Mar around a twenty five minute drive from Periana, fun for all the family with many slides and communal pools.
Visit the Province of Granada and the majestic Alhambra Palace. Situated over an hour in land from Nerja, Alhambra can be reached by car or organised coach trip.

The local Church in the village or Periana is called San Isidro, the church was named after the patron saint of Periana.

The Periana fountain is a link to the town's old history, as decades ago it was used by landlords and farmers to choose the men that worked on their fields and farms. The fountain dates way back to 1875 and is still visable to see in the town.
