The villa was everything we expected. It felt like a real home from home. The outside cooking facilities were first rate and we enjoyed them enormously.

Have just returned from holiday and would highly recommend the villa, it had everything you could wish for on a villa holiday, beautiful villa, very comfortable, beautifully furnished and in a lovely quiet location yet only ten minutes from Nerja. The pool was lovely with a wonderful outdoor eating area. Overall a wonderful holiday.

It is an amazing villa with all the comforts of home. Its location is ideal if you want to get away from it all, its very private, but with the added extra of only being a few kilometers from resturants and beaches. The outdoor living area was fabulous with a second kitchen/bar/bbq area with fridge/freezer which meant you didnt have to keep going back inside the villa if you were hungry or wanted a drink while by the pool. The pool was an ideal size for the family it had a shallow end with walk in steps which is great for young childen and a 2 meter deep end which made it feel like a proper pool. The two kitchens were fitted out with an extensive range of utensils, the living room was very comfortable for relaxing in the evening and the air conditioning was just what you needed to give you a comfortable night sleep. The only disappointing feature was the third bathroom was down by the pool side which really could not be used as a regular bathroom and while it was very clean it did smell foul, but we had two others so it wasnt a problem. A word of warning, as the villa is located on the side of a hill, there are a few steps to get to the pool which could a problem with young children, our three year old needed help to get up and down, any younger then i could see it potentially being a nightmare to keep them away from playing in that area. My only regret is that is we love to see new places therefore it is unlikely that we will be returning that area of the world and that villa. If only I could pick it up and take it with me....

the villa was clean and tidy well furnished had plenty of cups plates etc.even at the pool side. the owner was fast to come when we had a problem with the outside lights and very friendly.

Villa La Canella is an exceptional place to stay, very convenient for centre of Nerja, a little awkward to get to as off the beaten track but well worth the effort. Our representative was excellent whenever called upon, will no doubt stay again in a James Villa somewhere sunny.

London Family (the eldest child is at school)
Just returned from 'La Canella' after a two week stay, arrived early on the day of check in and meet the owner cleaning up after the previous visitors ,very nice chap allowed us to leave bags and have a look around.
Villa itself I a spacious 4 bed 2 bathroom villa with very large living area.
Down on the lower level around the pool we found a large fully stocked BBQ area with fridges and freezers and various sets of dining furniture with toilet and shower room, once you left the villa to go to the pool for the day there was know reason to return to the villa until evening you had everything you required at pool side.
I imagine if you had 8 adults sharing it may be a squeeze ,on this trip there was just three of us so the villa felt very big and spacious.
We would definitely recommend this villa if you was looking for a lovely Spanish quite relaxing holiday, a car is a must the hill is very steep up the mountain road at the bottom of the hill is the entrance to the national park which has some waterfalls and beautiful river walks would urge people to try this destination.
was about 3.5km from town but very easy to get around in Nerja with great restaurants and night life.
So all in all 5***** stay
Thanks James Villas

Very pleasant villa with good facilities. Lovely pool area which is also well equipped. We stayed with three young children and was fine - albeit we had to move all of the ornaments etc as they were just too tempting for small hands.

Others have commented about the drive to the villa and view of the motorway. The drive to the villa was fine for anybody who has a level of confidence in driving. As for the motorway, it can be seen from the villa, however is well hidden by trees when in the pool area and the noise was no distraction at all. I wouldn't allow either of these two points to be the 'decision makers' on whether to stay at La Canela.

La Canela is a well appointed beautiful & spacious villa surrounded by well maintained gardens. The attention to detail in the villa is superb, the furnishings are very comfortable everything was provided that we required.
The addition of the poolside fully equipped kitchen was a bonus we made full use of the fridge/freezer for snacks, ice creams & drinks. If I had to gripe about anything it was the lack of easy access from the Villa to the pool which is on a lower level & accessed via steps down the side of the villa, please note if you have little ones someone has to provide supervision on that level. That said the pool area is fabulous plenty of sun beds two umbrellas and a swing seat plus the undercover dining area which was a cool place to relax over lunch or evening BBQ. We were able to take everything we required for use around the pool down there and leave it on that level.
The villa is accessed via a winding in places steep concrete road down by the Rio Chiller past the entrance to the national park then a sharp turn up into the hills it is very secluded not overlooked and a brilliant place if your children like to express themselves as there are no near neighbours yet we were only 15mins drive from Nerja 10mins from the beach.
The gardens around the Villa are extensive & full of fruit trees avacado, fig, banana, limes etc we found the villa to be very relaxing & peaceful.

Absolutely brilliant. I cannot find a single fault with this villa. It is superbly maintained and spotlessly clean. The outside pool and cooking area are fabulous. We loved every minute here. You must have a car to stay here and access to the villa is quite steep so be mindful of this if travelling with very young children or elderly members of the family. I would definitely recommend la Canela.

Second visit to Villa La Canela, stunning villa, remote but just a short drive into Nerja.
As a couple on our own, we had plenty of room, but I would say the maximum number of guests should say 6 as the seating inside and out only caters for 6 guests. We did have a problem with the downstairs/ poolside bathroom, very smelly and unusable, the owner did come and put some bleach down, with limited success. Possibly a drainage problem, but not something we had noticed on our previous visit.
The Gardens are beautiful and well tendered and well stocked with flowers and fruit, surrounded by the mountains of the national park and yes, that view of the motorway bridge, which didn't spoil it for us, but might for some people.
TV is very limited to local and German channels
The outdoor/poolside kitchen is great, but would be good to have some kitchen items to clean the bbq with, and like most villas, there was nothing on arrival, so had to go out and buy, kitchen cloths, washing up soap, dishwasher soap, bleach etc... James Villas it would be great if you advised all villa owners to keep a stock of these essential items in their villas.
Shops don't open on Sundays, so be prepared if you are arriving on Sunday.
We will almost certainly be back!

The villa is great, spotlessly clean, lots of room and well equipped.

Location is good, brochure description accurate although unsurprisingly fails to mention the proximity of the motorway, it's visibility and constant low hum of traffic. Whilst it didn't affect our enjoyment for others it may do so.

Split level accommodation is brilliant, fully equipped lower terrace/outside bar/BBQ/kitchen is a real benefit as stairs up and down to main living area would otherwise make this a bit of a chore.

Local wildlife makes its presence felt, you expect the odd feral cat on the scrounge for food if you have ever visited Spain before, but to our surprise this time a friendly but determined black dog was somehow able to get into the grounds despite being shown the door on many occasions!

Nothing spoilt our break and in fact we would definitely return to this superb villa.
