Wonderful views of the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from the comfort of your covered terrace while your private pool is enclosed by attractive gardens. Absolutely spotless lovely homely furnishings that made you feel quite at home.
Mr Fielding, May 2013
Having stayed at several villas in different countries, this villa was definitely one of the best locations and very private. The only negative was the sheets in the master bedroom. They were quite uncomfortable to lie on as the were very 'bobbly'. New sheets are required. Super location and the villa was very well equipped. The coffee machine was especially welcome.

Absolutely fabulous, best holiday ever!!

Cant find words that have not already been said. All the party that stayed at Quinta Dos Avos were very satisfied with the Villa and would certainly stay there again. Quinta Dos Avos was an amazing Villa and in a wonderful setting. Every aspect was as the brochure description, and if we could have we would have loved to of stayed another week, one week wasn't long enough! Well done James Villas

Having been to the area before we knew what to expect, but for us this location was perfect, secluded without feeling isolated, near enough to visit busier plces.

Of the villas we have stayed in in the Algarve this was the best: lovely location, great villa and perfect outdoor space.

Cannot fault the service. Villa was perfect for our needs. Directions to it were very precise and ensured a hassle free drive from the airport. It all lived up to our expectations and more so we will definitely be using James Villas again.

Beautiful villa. Great quiet location. Decor has been updated since photos on website and is fresh and modern. Well equipped and spacious. Contrary to previous reviews we found beds and linen to be fine. Mattress toppers had been put on beds. Ensuite bathroom with sunken bath was gorgeous. Fantastic pool area with lovely views. Kitchen is well equipped with every bit of equipment you could need. Welcome pack was well worth ordering.

Brilliant very hi.ely with e everything we needed. Only problem was beds a little I comfortable for sleeping (possibly the wooden slats compared to our divan type beds. With is being English water in pool a few degrees too cold took a while each time to get in as was a shock to body.

Our second visit to Quinta dos Avos so we obviously liked it first time around! There are a couple of differences we found on our latest holiday. Firstly the pool was VERY cold and it did spoil it for us as we did not use it a fraction of what we normally would, I don't know what has changed as it was not as cold last time. Secondly the quality of towels, bedding and tea towels was mixed (i.e. some newer and better quality and some old and marked.) overall though this is a nice villa in a peaceful location.

Devizes Family (the eldest child is at school)
Villa Quinta dos Avos is down a dead end track surrounded by fields, so is in a stunning and very peaceful location. The villa is a little dated in places, but extremely clean and well designed for a family holiday is you want to relax.
The local town really doesn't have a lot to offer, so if you're looking to eat out at night in local decent restaurants, this isn't the place for you. That said, it's a quaint little town and has the basics - supermarket, chemist, etc.
There are a couple of minor niggles that did not really detract from the holiday and one major one that prevents me from giving this villa a 5 star review.
The minor points first. There were a LOT of ants inside and outside the villa. I appreciate that it's in the countryside and I grew up in Spain where this is not uncommon, so I didn't have a big issue with it, but some may. There was a river of ants coming from a plug socket in the living room when we arrived. The owner was quick to react when we called the rep and bought round some ant spray the next day that we used wherever needed.
Another minor point, but it would be nice to have a basic welcome pack in the villa. We arrived in the evening, so a bottle of water and some bread and butter would have been great, but there was nothing at all bar one well used dish cleaning sponge!
The major issue mind you was the beds. I caveat my comments by pointing out that I have a bad back and struggle with hard beds, but these were ALL unbearable! In 25+ years of travelling all over the world on business, I have never experienced such hard and uncomfortable mattresses. My 14 year old daughter found it extremely uncomfortable and she will sleep anywhere! We raised it with the rep who told me that they were 'orthotic' mattresses, which is not the case. They are simply cheap and VERY, VERY hard! I asked if she could get a couple of duvets that we could put under the base sheet, but the answer was 'no' and she recommended that we use the mats off the sun-loungers, which is not a great answer but it was the only option we had, so we did and it really didn't make a lot of difference. It's such a shame as the holiday was otherwise great, but each night was a disaster with very little sleep. I ended up trying to sleep on the small sofa in the living room just to get some rest.
In a villa of that quality there's just no excuse for cheap, nasty and uncomfortable mattresses. I know that some people won't have an issue with them, but they made our holiday a bit of a disaster, which is such a shame as the villa is otherwise lovely in so many other ways.

This is not the most modern villa, but everything that you need is there and works as it should. It was a nice quiet spot and we had a very relaxing and comfortable 2 weeks.
I've marked it down slightly on the decor, but it is actually better than the photos suggest.
We would happily go back - although will probably opt for a different location for our next trip, simply for the variety.

Great villa.. very quiet location. First impression, was very nice, well furnished, appeared very clean. There were a few areas that could have been cleaner... under and back of beds were dusty and showers could have been cleaner. Excellent facilities with regard to pots, pans and cuttlery.. Washing machine, iron and ironing board all ready to use. Very comfortable living area. The beds were not very comfortable, hard and lumpy.. Ensiutie to the main bedroom was nice with a sunken bath. The outside area was excellent. Pool man was there every week and the gardeners did a fabulous job. Garden area was very well maintained, there were clean towels and bed linen delivered regularly. The villa is a beautiful place. Very clean looking, exceptionaly well maintained inside and out

Nice villa. Great location, very quiet and private. Bedding could do with an upgrade. Locking mechanism on patio doors is awkward.

Lovely quiet location. However, when we arrived at the Villa at 4pm the cleaning team had only just started their work and left quickly without filling up toilet roll holders. So we had to set off to shops again , and there was no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets apart from one tablet. This seemed a bit mean and its a nice touch if there are tea bags and milk to greet you on arrival the basics expected to make a nice welcome. The beds and mattresses were uncomfortable and seen better days, there were no mattress protectors and very cheap bedding.Generally the furnishings were a bit tired and dated but adequate.
On the plus side the pool was lovely, clean and well maintained and the garden lovely. After I scrubbed the outside table we ate outside frequently but it was filthy and not been cleaned for some time. We also had to sweep all the crumbs and debris from the patio left by the cleaners, who also left behind a toilet roll and some rubbish which must of fallen out of their car in their rush to leave - we could of used the loo roll had it not been run over. We left a pack of 9 for the next guests as a hint!!.

The villa was clean and spacious. The pool was wonderful and the surrounding garden was beautiful. The bedrooms were a good size but could have done with fitted sheets and new pillows. Overall the villa was a lovely place to spend time.
