Although the villa is remote it is an easy car trip into Armacao (too far to walk when it is hot). Owner very friendly and helpful.

A lovely quiet and peacful location yet only 10 mins drive to some of the best beaches in the Algarve.

We know this area of Portugal very well, the villa was just far enough out of town secluded but not remote - perfect!

Lovely villa in country. Excellent directions - we arrived in the dark and found the house easily.

    • Mr Tofield, May 2011

The villa location makes it easy to visit the beaches and towns and aqua parks in the area. I would recommend Silve as a day out.

Destination was very good, the villa was out of town in a very quiet area however it was only a short drive or walk to shops and the beach.

    • Mr Redgate, April 2010

Excellent value for money. The villa was in a lovely postion, 4 minutes by car to the town or shops or 30 mins on a nice walk. Could have not picked a better spot, and the beaches around Armasco were excellent.

We had a fantastic relaxing time with no worries because it was all taken care of. We were particularly impressed on how well the villa cleaned and serviced throughout our stay. The only problem we had with the holiday was that the mattresses were really hard which may it difficult to sleep. The questionnaire asks me to comment on the appearance and knowledge of an representative we never met.

This was our third and least expensive villa holiday but by far the best. The villa is decorated traditionally which appealed to us having holidayed in more luxurious villas previously. The layout worked well - having the pool directly outside the living room patio door was a godsend with young children. Location was fantastic; there is one villa across the dirt track - far enough away to give privacy whilst using the outdoor living area. Only a short drive to stunning beaches and divine restaurants.

Beds are never comfortable in villas, they are very hard, and pillows always seem to be made from cut-up pieces of foam. Luckily the previous occupants purchased pillows which we were glad to use! Wifi served its' purpose and was intermittent at times but didn’t cause particular problems despite having three young children with tablets.

The gardens weren’t as lush as other villas and there’s an extensive area of dust/sand towards the rear of the villa, but given the heat, we never spend much time walking around the gardens. We spotted a scorpion near the pool, and the gardener informed us the area is particularly renowned for them. The children made friends with a large chameleon in the garden which they looked out for each day. The view from the bbq during sunset is to die for, and one that we miss after returning home. There are far-reaching views of the quaint church in Porches over the vineyards. Grab a glass of Portugese Rose, and pop the langoustine on the bbq!

The kitchen was well equipped, I did quite a bit of cooking and BBQ’ing with the delicious seafood on sale locally. We received a welcome pack for free thankfully, as it wasn’t really that great. Water pressure is good which is unusual in a villa!

My only criticism re the villa is the bedroom upstairs which you’d imagine would be the master. However, it has two single beds (the double bed is downstairs), and really lacks a dressing table as the only mirror upstairs is in the bathroom and is quite high. It also lacks a heavy curtain despite having a net over, so mornings are early as the room gets light.

I also wish (as with all villa holidays) there would be a timetable visible for occupants detailing the day and time that gardeners/maids etc attend as it can be alarming opening up the shutters in the morning to see someone walking around in the garden!

Overall, a lovely villa that we would like to go back to.

Quiet,peaceful location-car is a must as it's pretty remote.
The villa itself is very spacious, although in need of decoration and a very thorough clean! I wonder how many people it takes to mention the uncomfy beds and pillows to get them changed! Small touches, such as hand soap and basic condiments would have been appreciated. We paid for a welcome pack, which was awful and the only thing we used was the bottled water. Save some money and stop off for basics en route.
Also the wi-fi is hit and miss, which didn't go down well with two teenagers!
However the outside space is it's saving grace-the pool is huge and has a good size seating area.
The rep was helpful and a couple of problems we had were rectified quickly by the house manager.

A few things to note. The villa is reasonably secluded so car is definitely required. When you go to bed you get onto the bed not into it! (If you want a Hypnos or soft Tempurar mattress you need to go elsewhere). Yes some of the furniture is a bit "dated" but it's a holiday villa, what do you need? The pool is big, deep and pretty chilly. The villa is situated in "scrub" so no rolling green hills just brown and dusty. And yes, if you are following the driving instructions, it is down that little "dusty lane !!

So accepting the above, this is a great holiday villa. It's clean, showers and toilets all work and the water pressure is good. The Kitchen is well supplied with appliances (although we didn't cook or use the washing machine, they looked fine). The pool is exceptional but at 2.3 meters deep at the deep end extra caution will be needed for non swimmers. The beaches/restaurants/shops are all nearby and easy to find using a car.

With a bit of work "on-line" there's plenty of Restaurants nearby to suit everyone's taste.

The pool and surrounds are very good, always somewhere in the sun and conversely always some shade and the hedge made a colourful backdrop to a lot of our "snaps'. The rest of the gardens suffer a bit from the very dry dusty area but then that's the price for the very hot sun.

Careful when backing out your car as speaking from experience, low walls and hire cars don't mix!

The quality of the furnishings in this villa is not particularly good - a little dated perhaps? There are a couple of minor things that let it down for me. When I arrived some of the sun beds were on their side and actually made the pool area rather untidy. I couldn't find any pegs for the washing line. The supply of some guest soap would help to add a nice touch. (I did say these were minor things but if resolved would have made me feel a little better about the villa. Nice location though and having said what I've said I had already booked to go again in October and have no regrets about that.

We enjoyed our stay, however did think the bedding, pillows and other bits were poor quality, we had to go and buy pillows because they were that bad, sheets were very old and bobbly, mattress was awful. Cot and high chair filthy and full of cobwebs. Manager was helpful though and friendly.
