First Time in Portugal
We have really enjoyed our stay. This is our first time in Portugal and we crammed in as much as we could. The villa is spacious and the children have adored the pool. We found Licinia our Rep really helpful and approachable.
We visited Vale do Lobo - Very pretty place but on a slightly windy day the beach was cold. We visited Lagos - a bigger drive but worth it. We enjoyed the old town, lots of sweet eateries and shops – a short drive to Meia Praia found us on a lovely beach, water like a mill pond (you can see this from the castle in Lagos.)Food has been lovely.
Our Highlight was Zoo Marine – at this time of year it was not too busy. We were able to take in our own packed lunch and towels to sit on the Zoo Marine Beach. The children loved the water and slides and rapids. There are lots of turtles, sea lions, sharks to see but the dolphins were out this world. If you can afford it (it can be expensive) – we booked dolphin - We emailed in advance and they emailed back an E-ticket. This enabled us to queue at the dolphin queue for a quicker entrance.
To swim with the dolphins was educational and fun for the children and us we were surprised at how much contact we were able to have with these beautiful creatures. A never forget day.
Vilamoura Marina has many eateries and some shops - a pleasant place to visit in the evening – or watch football if there is a game on!!
If you park in the car park by McDonalds (Drive as through you are going to the drive through) there is a free car park to the right – a short walk sees you at the marina.
Beaches we have enjoyed are Praia de Crale (near Albufueria Zoomarine) parking free, not much of a walk beach take away and toilets. The beaches Falescia in Vilamoura are also pleasant.
Piri- piri down the road is nice for lunch or dinner. The menus are very similar for lunch and dinner, but hit the spot.
Thank you to James Villas and the owners for such a wonderful base for a week.
