Panicale is a pretty, medieval hilltop town in Umbria situated very close to Lago di Trasimeno, the scene of Hannibals miltary successes and eventual defeat versus the might of the Roman Legions. The village is dominated by the hilltop fortress and the main square, or Piazza, is a delightful place to eat at the pavement cafes or spend a relaxing evening listening to jazz whilst enjoying a cool drink.

Step inside the walled old town where you can find a tranquil evening atmosphere and relaxed nightlife. Many of the local restaurants are traditional Italian cuisine and family friendly with some of the bars open until late.
Hosting a small but pleasant collection of flumes and swimming pools, the Tavernelle Aquapark is a great place to visit for all ages and is just a ten minute drive from the resort of Panicale. There are areas for toddlers and loungers for adults, located in between the brightly coloured twisting and turning tubes. There are toilets and places to have a snack on site.
Why not spend a day exploring Umbria's capital, and largest city, Perugia. The city boasts a large number of museums, galleries, churches, palaces and its Duomo to keep the whole family occupied. Some sights include the Palazzo dei priori, the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria, Church of Saint 'Angelo and Museo Archeologico Nazionale dell'Umbria to name a few. Perugia also offers a wide choice of restaurants, bars, cafeterias and gelaterias and the city has a relaxed yet lively nightlife. Each year Perugia plays host to Umbria Jazz, Europe’s top jazz festival featuring concerts and live performances by many famous acts.
PERUGINA CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Taste the famous chocolate from its recognisable shiny blue wrapper, the Perugina Baci, straight from the factory it is produced from. Located a 15 minute drive from the centre of Perugia, the factory also has a museum and a gift shop, however pre-booking for a place in the English speaking tour is highly recommended.
