Trecastagni

Trecastagni, which means three chestnuts in English, is an ancient town standing on the lower slopes of Mount Etna. There are numerous shops, bars restaurants and banks in the town whilst Acireale and Catania are both a short drive away.

Natural areas of beauty

Nearby Mount Etna is Europe's tallest active Volcano and has been awarded UNESCO world heritage site status. Watch its frequent eruptions from afar or join a guided tour of the Volcano and learn a bit more about magnificent Mount Etna in the safe company of one of the local experts.

The old town

Visit Catania, Sicily's second largest city, home to an old town full of interesting architecture, the Piazza Duomo, ancient Roman ruins and a large fish market, a perfect spot for a seafood lunch!

Churches / Cathedrals

Visit nearby Acireale and marvel at the the Duomo di Ariceale in the main piazza. The impressive cathedral dates back to the 15th Century although it has been rebuilt several times over the years.

National parks

Hike through La Timpa Nature Reserve and marvel at the interesting rock formations created by the larva flows of Mount Etna. The park is also home to a number of different species of plant and animals including porcupines, warblers, and horned owls.
