Purity in the flavor of its cuisine is what Lecce and the Salento peninsula are most famous for. The depth to the taste in the local dishes veer into the emotional without accompanying eye-watering prices. Wild chicory is a staple vegetable in the south most commonly used in the iconic Pugliese 'Pure? di fave e cicorielle'.
A plethora of seafood restaurants, traditional taverns, pizzerias and fine dining establishments embracing modern techniques are dotted around the Province of Lecce. Street food and international cuisine can be found within larger towns and cities, particularly the capital Lecce.
Most towns and cities throughout the peninsular have a venue or two for evening entertainment. Lecce has a variety of cocktail cars, nightclubs and theatre.
Puglia is famous for it's wine and the Province of Lecce is host to numerous vineyards and wineries many of who have histories dating back hundreds of years. Proud of their produce, all have open doors willing visitors to sample some of their creations.
To the north east of Lecce city centre sits quietly and humbly the regional nature park Bosco e Paludi di Rauccio, one of the last examples in the region of a large stretch of forest and marsh land. Set along the coastline, visitors can discover four themed trails and learn about the flora and fauna, a fun day out for couples and families alike.

Puglia is strewn with castles from various eras throughout history. Castello Carlo V is an example from the 16th century and stands on the east side of Lecce in all its Medieval glory.
