Villa is excellent in every way

28/5-11/6 with 1 day of rain (Av temp 26-31)

Villa is just excellent in every way (pick your own oranges from the orange grove) Nearby is the supermarket and bakery also roadside green grocery (it is all local produce so expect misshapen fruit and veg and see if they have any strawberries - the best we have tasted in a long time. On the way into town (Tsilivi) at the crossroads there is a butchers (turn right) he will make your chicken or pork souvalaki while you wait.

Villa is so beautiful and well maintained. BBQ was well used. Good exercise carrying your food and drink etc from the kitchen.

The pool is really good (had a job getting our boy out!) Please take care when walking around the far side as the floor very slippery when it is wet.

You are really spoilt for choice when eating out, here are some of our favourites

Veggera - In town (friend of Fay's) gorgeous bread.

Pierros - In town (amazing ribs and mixed grill)

M-eating - In town (lamb kleftiko. They flamed it at the table)/p/>

Vardiola - (out of the villa gates, turn left, then at the end of the track turn left again and follow the signs, it is elevated so good views of Kefalonia and really good traditional food.

Porto Roulis - Turn right out of the gates and just follow the track. This really is a lovely taverna. Nothing fancy, just good food. If you like fish this is the place. I went in the kitchen and chose my own (they weigh the fish and give you a price) be warned! Some of the family ordered plain grilled chicken ,they were ! RATHER LARGE!

Finally, a huge thank you to Fay, Spiros (especially the surprise which was left in our fridge), also Jane who helped us with a problem we had. We were made so welcome and hope to return soon. Must also thank Marie and the team for cleaning the villa and helping make our stay so enjoyable. Hope I haven't gone on too much and the info is of good use to you.

      Enjoy Villa St Dennis

PS - The wifi was a bit hit and miss but who cares, nice to get away from the mess in the UK

      Fond Memories

Hellooooo from the Old Wrinklies of Lancaster

Isn't it amazing how quickly two weeks fly by when you've waited all bloody year to get here.

We didn't do much or go anywhere (the call of the dolphin pool was too strong to resist) but we are leaving with a great tan and fond memories of our time here at Villa St Dennis.

We too went to the fish restaurant. Grandad has now learned to play the guitar (badly) as he sings (very badly). I think his volume control now is broken and the could probably hear him in Kefalonia. We only stayed for drinks.

      Many thanks to -

      1) Jane (the James Villas rep). She's amazing, she answered all of our questions and gave us great advice about shopping (for eating in) and restaurants (for eating out).

      2) Fay and Spiros who made sure we were okay after the thunderstorm (good luck with the new baby).

      3) The housekeeper who made sure we had everything we needed.

      4) My parents for having me.

      5) Anyone else who knows me!

So, as we sit here with our last G&T we wish you a great holiday...

      Yammas!

owners met us at the villa and personally welcomed us (again - this is the 5th time we've stayefd at one of their villas) ...although i think they provide this service to all their guests. Personal touches like this and the fact that they're around most of the time to help with restaurants, directions, beaches and general info on the island is so helpful,

A great place for a "getaway from it all" type of holiday but with essential facilities (supermarket and restaurants) nearby.

    • Mrs Lawless, June 2013

A gorgeous villa in a beautiful rural location just 10 minutes drive from Tsilivi. The owners made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Also, having the coast, tavernas, a supermarket, a vegetable stall and butchers all within walking distance meant that we could easily enjoy lazy days at the villa if we chose not to go exploring the island. The barbecue area is lovely. Locally, the Fish Taverna is a very special place.

A beautiful villa. We felt very looked after by the owners, who made every effort to make our holiday as comfortable as possible. Also loved the rural location and felt like we were away from it all.

We arrived after an early flight very tired and niggly but the villa soon worked its charm on us. Fay, the owner, greeted us and proved very helpful (but not intrusive) during our stay. The house and grounds were very clean and unusually for Greece the beds are most comfortable!
The pool and outdoor kitchen are superb although the brown tiling under the canopy is like ice when wet (rectification in hand).
The brochure photos and description paint, as expected, a very slightly polished impression; Villa St Dennis is part of a small development some of which is incomplete although no work was carried on during our visit. The house and grounds are not totally private although the careful screens and arches do help. It is situated in a farming community so associated noises - cockerels etc - are to be expected and to a great extent that was part of the charm which, unfortunately, was not enhanced by the caged Alsatian on the farm at the end of the grounds which barked regularly but intermittently at all hours. No one but the dog owner to blame.
Good inexpensive tavernas within walking or a short drive away with a small shop, bakery and veg stall at the end of the lane.
Truly excellent James Villas rep, Jane, who addressed with the owner any little problems we had initially and followed up unobtrusively by text to ensure we were happy.

Stockport Family (the eldest child is at school)
This Villa was perfect for our family, two children eight and ten and four adults. The owners Fay and Spiros make you very welcome(we have stayed in one of their other Villas in the past).Nearby is a supermarket, bakery, butchers, and roadside green grocery selling all local produce(real fruit and veg,try the strawberries if they have any). Also within walking distance are a number of restaurants,if you like fish turn right outside the gates and follow the track down to Porto Roulis where you can go in the kitchen and choose your own fish and sort out a price.Go into Tsilivi where you are spoilt for eating places. Some of our favourites were Vaggera(friends of Fay) Piero's and M-eating. The BBQ area at the Villa was well used,we managed three.Must not forget Jane ( James Villa) she helped us when we had a problem.Hope to return next year.

A very enjoyable week at villa st dennis. The location is perfect for getting away from it all and also a good base in order to explore the island.

The outside space is huge and zoned really well and the pool is a good size. We holidayed at the beginning of may so the pool water was a little chilly to use without too often. In the height of summer it would be very refreshing.

The interior of the villa is very well proportioned and the decor is modern. They really have thought of everything in terms of equipping the villa. If you want to cook or have a bbq, fear not you have all you need.

We felt very secure in the villa which comes with a very big gate! There is another villa owned by the same owners nearby but you are not overlooked and the villa is very private with the added peace of mind that there are other holiday makers nearby.

The only quibble we had which was a little annoying is the temperamental wifi. We like to plan days and look at reviews before visiting and look at routes via Google maps, however this was impossible at times. This needn't be a deal breaker as most of the restaurants we visited had free WiFi.

Jane the rep kept in contact with us and she was very helpful astaff were the owners fay and spiros.

All in all a wonderful week. Would thoroughly recommend this villa and zante in general.

Location of villa is picturesque and rural and accessed of the main road via a narrow dirt track.

The villa is situated in large grounds with plenty of privacy, although an adjacent property is being built so expect noice, workmen and vehicles - something we were not advised upon prior to booking or arrival.

It is a spacious villa with nice furnishings. Be prepared though for a very very uncomfortable nights sleep on exceptionality hard mattresses in the double beds !!!!

For a large family the sofas are very small and uncomfortable if you fancy a movie evening.

The grounds and pool are tendered very nicely although the furniture is somewhat tired and tatty especially around the pool with dirty cushions and dirt and mold on the chair and table bases.

There is a good & well equipped local supermarket approx 5 mins walk away, a good bakery and a very nice, inexpensive & friendly taverna.

Overal I would give the villa 7/10 - change the mattresses, outside furniture and new large comfortable sofa's and it would definitely move up to a 9.5/10

Thank you for your feedback. The owner had decided to build a small storage building close by, however we're pleased to let you know this has now been fully completed. We'll make sure the outdoor furniture and mattresses are check and cleaned or replaced where necessary.

Positives ~

The villa was lovely and the owners, Fay & Spiros, and their staff were very helpful.
The pool was enormous and very well kept.

Negatives ~

The outdoor furniture around the pool was badly in need of replacing and not as shown in the brochure. This affected our overall rating as we expected more from a luxury villa.
The stairs to the upper floor is very narrow and, although there are handrails, they might prove difficult for anyone who is infirm.
As with most kitchens abroad saucepans were very limited.
There is great deal of building work going on near the villa which appears to be on-going as the area is being developed.

It’s great to read that you enjoyed many aspects on your recent holiday with us and so it’s frustrating to learn that you were not entirely satisfied with other areas. We've passed your feedback to our team in resort to check the outdoor furniture and kitchen equipment. The owner has now completed building a storage building close to the villa, but we're sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
