Olympus villas are beautiful and there are a number of mini markets and shops within a 15 minute walk. There is a wonderful bakery in the town, a nice taverna called filoxenia, the people were very friendly and the beach runs all the way down the resort. Slightly further out is a bar called Gallaria which was very modern and in part of the old railway tunnel - we loved it! The resort is close to Mount Olympus, a Byzantine castle in walking distance and an old mountain village which is definitely worth visiting. Meteora is a couple of hours drive and is incredible.
The area itself looked quite tired in some places, and finding good places to eat locally was difficult. If you’re looking for a place with lots of nightlife this is probably not the place for you (we weren’t so that was fine!) You will need a car to visit some of the places above, or you will need to book a trip. We chose to book a trip to meteora with the only travel agency in the town and couldn’t recommend it to be honest: Meteroa was great. The coach trip was terrible. However if you do choose to drive be advised that the traffic up and down from the monasteries looked horrendous!

Plenty of tavernas and activities but places for quiet too. Felt more like a resort for Greek people rather than all overseas tourists, which was nice
