We selected all our villas in Kefalonia for their proximity to the amazing Kefalonian beaches. Most are situated in the scenic countryside, mere minutes drive from the main resorts, but we also have villas located on the southern tip of the island. These villas are nestled in the hills, offering stunning landscape views like no other. If you fancy a twin centre holiday, Ithaka is only a short boat ride away, and it offers a relaxed and slower pace of life.
Kefalonia - Picturesque landscapes and Grecian charm
With beautiful beaches, olive-clad landscapes, historic gems and a warm and inviting culture, Kefalonia holidays epitomise carefree getaways in Greece. From the northern most tip near Fiskardo to tourist favourites in the south, our villas in Kefalonia embrace the local, laidback way of living.
Kefalonia boasts some of the best beaches in the Greek Islands, with waters considered amongst the cleanest in the world. Explore the picturesque golden sandy shores and vertical cliffs in the north of the island on your villa holiday. Secluded sandy coves offer beautiful views over small bays to the west, while many of Kefalonia’s Blue Flag beaches offer clean, well-organised facilities ideal for a family holiday. Drive around the coast, especially the east and stumble across small beaches scattered amongst rocks and trees, under the main coastal road.
Acres of inland forest-covered mountains provide captivating views of Kefalonia and its stunning scenery, neighbouring Greek Island Zakynthos can even be spotted on a clear blue-sky day. Spend the day visiting tiny isolated beaches and coves all along Kefalonia’s pretty coastline on a boat trip, observe the sea-turtles nesting on the beach and visit natural wonders like sinkholes that make sea water disappear then reappear across the island. Horseback riding is found at several holiday resorts, as well as watersports facilities, cycle hire and bird watching hotspots.
Archaeological finds suggest that humans have lived in Kefalonia since Neolithic times 7,000 years ago. For the explorer, many ancient sites of unrivalled beauty still reside here. These range from Venetian fortresses and monasteries, Byzantine churches and underground Mycenaean tombs dating back to 1200 BC, to the remains of a Roman villa and its fascinating mosaics from the second century AD. More recently, visitors flock to this Greek Island for its connection to Captain Corelli’s Mandolin – the book and subsequent film, inspired by World War II.
Much of the busy nightlife in Kefalonia is concentrated in the main holiday resort of Lassi and the island’s capital, Argostoli, where the central square is lined with many restaurants, cafés and bars and on a warm summer night, local people take their traditional evening walk here. Kefalonia’s larger harbour side resorts also offer bustling entertainment, including traditional dancing and live Greek music – a good way to observe the local way of life on your villa holiday. In the smaller, more rural villages you’ll find local tavernas and nightspots offering a quieter, relaxing and romantic evening retreat.

The restaurants that were open served delicious food.
As it was the end of the season a lot of places were closed. We didnt realise this when we booked and it would have been helpful to know in advance. We were not aware that there had been lots of earthquakes in previous months and it would have been less frightening when the first one hit at 1.50am, if we would have known this prior to our holiday.

Nice island / nice people
Did go very late in the season - quite a lot shut up for winter. However, not such a problem as long as you have a car.

Fiskado Harbour, quiet, peaceful, slow pace of life, Assos, Myrthos beach
Lots closed due to our timing of visit. Weather not perfect! Neither James Villa could do much about

All the cats trying (and occasionally succeeding) to get in the villa.

The beaches are beautiful and if it’s not too hot then some of the walks take you past lovely isolated beaches. Assos was by far our favourite spot. It was lovely and quiet.
You can tell Greece has no money for public spending. We travelled at the end of the season and lots of places were already closing.

Kefalonia is an exceptionally beautiful island and you can easily get to look at most of it in a week
We knew it would be so but you should be aware that a lot of places shut for the off season by mid-October. However there were still three tavernas within a short distance open and two or three good beaches can be accessed and even in October the sea is quite warm

We went in October the weather was still very warm we had no rain . Skala itself was very quiet which is how we like it.
We went in October so very, very few places were open and no boat trips were on despite what rep told us. I would think even high season it would be a quiet place . The only bad points for the villa was the dirt track up to it...don't wear high heels or wedges if walking. The walk to town was about 10-15 minutes.
