Situated in an elevated position close to the hilltop village of Callian, lies the wonderful Domaine de Camiole Resort & Spa. Situated amongst lush Mediterranean countryside in the heart of Fayence, the resort exudes an ambience of quality and high life living. Bordering the Massif de l'Esterel mountains and only 5km from Lake St. Cassien, there is a rich array of natural beauty to be discovered! For those who like to stay on resort, there is still plenty to keep all the family occupied. The outdoor pool is an ideal place to sunbathe at, or to socialise with other families. The resort offers a fine standard of accommodation, from villas with pools to wonderfully Provencal style designed apartments, perfect for families, groups of friends or couples alike!

Golf

Just 7km away from the Domaine de Camiole Resort & Spa lies the prestigious Terre Blanche Golf Club. It is here architect Dave Thomas, creator of some of the world’s most famous golf courses, has transformed the wild and hilly landscape of Provence into two championship golf courses. The west course named “Le Château” is open to non-club members and provides a rewarding challenge for golfers of all abilities testing their precision and length. The inspiring combination of bunkers, water-holes, long drives, flag positions and play-stopping views makes this course one that won’t be forgotten. With 300 days of sunshine per year, Terre Blanche offers the ideal golfing environment, why not take advantage of the all year round conditions!

Nice villa but spoiled by being very badly underequipped. It's fine if you want to go out for dinner every night but nothing to cook with if you stay in. You should not have to buy cooking utensils when you are spending this much on a villa. Literally nothing here. And no bbq. I had to go and buy one as they would only rent you silly electric things on site. That is ridiculous.

Lovely villa with a great pool. The kitchen could have been better equipped though - cooking wasn't easy. The complex was nice but it was disappointing that the snack bar stopped serving food early and the restaurant was closed. The whole reason we booked in a complex was to be able to eat out without driving, which proved impossible. Next time we wouldn't book in a complex again based on this experience.

Villa was clean and tidy. Furniture simple but adequate. Plenty of crockery and cutlery in kitchen but poor supply of knives/spatulas etc. No kitchen towels provided. Gardens within villa grounds were a little shabby and overgrown. Pool good size but turned green for last few days. Fortunately we already had plans to be elsewhere for those few days but would have been a disappointing end to holiday if we hadn’t. The complex that the villa sits in is well maintained but seems a little past its prime in terms of things to do. It was obviously originally built to offer a lot more (restaurants, club, spa etc) and whilst the James Villa website hadn’t promised those things, the environment just seemed a little bit sorry for itself. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. The region is lovely with the beautiful hill top villages of Callian and Montereux nearby. A few lovely hidden restaurants there. Supermarkets nearby. Car definitely required. Overall a pleasant stay lacking va va voom!

Liss Family (with only pre-school children)
Lovely villa set on the spa-complex. The staff on reception were excellent and helpful throughout, and though I can get by in French, their English is much better than my "get by-able" French. The communal pools are amazing but we didn't use it much due to having our private pool. Spa facilities available for adults, but again, with having a small child, we didn't find the time to use them as no ability to do so unless you use it alone. The villa has air conditioning in all bedrooms as well as the lounge area, which is essential, even if just to take the edge off the warm, muggy air. My only gripe was that it only had one oven shelf which made things a bit difficult for the odd time I needed two shelves! (I didn't bother mentioning it as I'd previously mentioned about the lack of ovenware and then brought the next day new trays and dishes).

Location is lovely, the medieval village of Callian is just up the road and we ate out for evening dinner there on many occasions as well as the daily bread and pastries from the boulangerie. There is also a small "express" type store as well. The main supermarkets are just a few minutes back down the road as you head back to the motorways which are equally easily accessing and you'll pass often should you be travelling out along the south coast, as we did. I'm hooked on villa holidays after trying my first one a few years ago and so I've done this a few times, and I can say that like the others I've done, this does not disappoint. Location was excellent for us to explore Nice, Monaco, Italy, Cote d'Azur, Saint Tropez, etc.

East Sussex Couple
The Villa was very nice and comfortable but would have given a higher rating if;
The lounge only has one two seater settee and two foot stools for 6 people?
The outdoor sun loungers did not have any soft cushions so were uncomfortable.
Same for dining chairs.
The equipment could be improved; Place mats for dining, drying up cloths in kitchen, toaster, oven pans.
The oven was dirty and the only tray was covered in grease from previous occupiers.
The dish washer did not clean very well.

The villa is in a good location on the site and gets the sun nearly all day thanks to south-facing patio and pool area. Good shade from covered patio for those who don’t want to stay out in the sun. Pool was chilly in May but useful for cooling off. Plenty of supermarkets, farm shops and local outlets in the area. Car is essential.

The only issue I had was with the kitchen. This is the Villa Magnolia “batterie de cuisine”:

- Spatula
- Ladle
- Bread knife
- Corkscrew
- Paring knife (blunt)
- Potato peeler

...And that’s it! No wooden spoons, cheese grater, serving spoons, oven glove, sieve, kitchen scissors, tea towels, Pyrex jugs...had to buy what we needed. Keen French cooks who stay here must be horrified!

On the positive side, quite a good range of pans (though only one lid, which doesn’t fit either of the two frying pans), but including a good-sized casserole with lid. The oven also has a rotisserie, which is great!

Plenty of crockery and cutlery so you can fill the dishwasher and still have enough to use. There’s a kettle and a coffee machine but no filters provided.

No welcome pack or even any option to buy one - we arrived after 23:00; no food options on site until July/August and all restaurants and takeaways in the area were shut by this time, so we had to go to bed on a glass of cold water each!

Overall, and despite the deficiencies mentioned above, we still had a great stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we would recommend the Magnolia to others.
