    The old town

The old town of Saint-Paul de Vence was built on a small hill, from which there is a view of the whole area. The village lies a few kilometers from the sea, but you can see the coast between Cagnes-sur-Mer and Antibes. Dating back to the 16th century and listed as an historic monument in France since 1945, the village’s ramparts are the real highlight. It is from these elevated walls encircling the village that visitors can marvel at the magnificent views and numerous sculptures.
It is worth walking the main street of the village – rue Grande – which leads from the entrance at the north gate (Porte de Vence) to the end of the village, where the cemetery is located just behind the southern gate.
Along the way, you will pass charming little galleries, shops, restaurants, and art studios, which in Saint-Paul de Vence, are a dime a dozen. One of the more often photographed attractions is the impressive fountain in the Place de la Grande Fontaine. During the Middle Ages it was the most important place in the old town.

    Museums

The Maeght Foundation is a modern art museum famous for its wealth of sculptures, ceramics, paintings and more. The building itself is well worth the visit, especially the external spaces such as the sculpture garden and The Miro Labyrinth, among others.

    Churches / Cathedrals

At the top of the village sits a very pretty church, built on the 14th century and updated in the 18th century. There is also 17th century Folon chapel with sculptures and lovely glass windows.
