The Englewood/ Manasota area is typical of the Gulf Coast, quiet and peaceful, lots of long sandy beaches, and plenty of decent places to eat.
The Red Tide was a big worry before our trip, and the locals were impacted with smells keeping them away from beaches, and hitting tourism. Worth checking this out before booking.

The villa and immediate area were great. Location of villa was fantastic in terms of driving out to places and visiting the surrounding areas and the coast.

The beach was very close to the Villa. Easy access to main roads. Shops and restaurants need a car - 10-30 mins drive.
Unfortunately there was an algae Red Tide in the Gulf Bay Area when we were on holiday. We could not use Manasota Beach regularly due the dead fish and respiratory conditions.

The setting was beautiful and the villa is very private (which is unusual for a Florida villa)
Our stay at villa Hudson was very nice. Just a few observations below: 1. The airhocky table in the garage didn’t work.
2. The additional drive to collect the keys to the villa from TMI appeared to be an unessasary step. Could the code to the key box (located at the property) not have been provided by James Villas to avoid this additional journey.
3. The bottom of the swimming pool has a rough finish which after several days of constant use made all of our party’s feet very sore.
4. The villa is located in a residential area which is very peaceful and well kept. Sadly the raised voices and bad language from a neighbouring property was heard on a few occasions which was unfortunate given that we were travelling with children.

The villa was in a residential area which suited us ,but was not within walking distance of any restaurant. We never got the AC correct and were unable to adjust it below 73 which when it touched mid 90s most days could have helped
