Cycling In Lanzarote – The Culture-Vulture’s Cho

Comment

So far we’ve seen cycling routes through lavish green hillsides of the Algarve, across the mountainous landscapes of Cyprus and along the serene sandy beaches of Mallorca. Cycling in Lanzarote provides an experience that is unique, and whether you are a fan of the sport or just want a taster this diverse island is the perfect destination for your next holiday.

Whatever your skill level, the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote is a fantastic place to explore by bike. The temperature is warm all year round, and the island offers up not only staggeringly beautiful scenery, but wonderful cultural exploits, too.

Art lovers will enjoy spotting the works of César Manrique throughout Lanzarote, and if you’re a foodie, there are plenty of traditional towns and villages that contain restaurants serving up authentic Canarian cuisine.

Taking the kids cycling on holiday can seem a little intimidating, but many of the tarmac roads in Lanzarote are very flat, and easy to navigate enabling you to avoid the majority of traffic. It is also a great destination to visit to teach the children about volcanic ecosystems, and when you’re finished cycling, you can head to the family-friendly Playa Blanca beach to finish your holiday in the sun.

Here are some cycling routes in Lanzarote to cater for the different levels of cycling expertise from the very beginners to the iron man loving experts:
