The historic town of Gandia is situated between striking mountainous landscape and the Mediterranean Sea. Offering a wealth of beautiful golden sandy beaches, extensive shopping and historical buildings, there is plenty to do here and many places well worth a visit, such as the Palace of Santo Duque, which has been declared a Spanish national monument. However, arguably the most popular attraction for holidaymakers are the long stretches of beach and the busy harbour. Food is also a popular attraction of Gandia, as the prosperous fishing harbour and widespread orchards mean that this area is rich in fresh produce. A number of local specialty dishes such as “fideuà”, a paella-type dish made with noodles, can be found served in many of the restaurants and tapas bars that line the bustling promenade.
