Panicale in Umbria
Panicale is a pretty, medieval hilltop town in Umbria situated very close to Lago di Trasimeno, the scene of Hannibals miltary successes and eventual defeat versus the might of the Roman Legions.
The village is dominated by the hilltop fortress and the main square, or Piazza, is a delightful place to eat at the pavement cafes or spend a relaxing evening listening to jazz whilst enjoying a cool drink.
