Visit 'beautiful' Assisi on an Umbria villa holiday
In her Louice Minds the Gap blog on the Swedish website the Local, the writer explained that Assisi is situated about an hour away from the coast in the Umbrian countryside.
She said that visitors to the town can immerse themselves in the region's rich culture with a visit to its many Franciscan churches.
Assisi was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000 and is home to some popular sights and attractions, such as the Basilica of San Francesco.
The blogger said that she will miss the atmosphere of the town as well as its people, not to mention its delicious ice cream.
"Seriously, I could base my diet on Italian ice cream," she insisted.
Tourists visiting Assisi's churches are advised that strict dress codes can sometimes apply so it is best to wear long trouser and sleeves.
The medieval village of Castel Rigone is not far from Assisi, so holiday makers who wish to visit the town could rent a villa here. Perugia is also just a short drive away, offering historical sights and cosmopolitan nightlife.
