Enjoy some racing action on an Umbria villa holiday

The Umbria region of Italy is great for a peaceful holiday but car racing fans will also find something to suit their tastes this summer.

From August 21st to 23rd, the Luigi Fagioli international uphill car race will be taking place in the town of Gubbio, Perugia Online reports.

Participants will take part in a daring dash starting in Gubbio and finishing at Madonna della Cima.

Those renting Umbria villas at the time can line the course to watch all the action with locals and other tourists.

The district of Gubbio itself boasts a number of castles, churches, abbeys and monasteries that holiday makers may wish to take the time to explore.

These include the Abbey of Alfiolo, the Castle of Carbonana and the Church of Madonna del Ponte.

Families renting Umbria villas in Magione, which is not far from Gubbio and which is also close to Lake Trasimeno for a relaxing day out by the water.
