Turkey holiday demand rising, says expert

More people are looking to book a Turkey holiday as reflected in the launch of new tours and flights to the country.

This is according to Turkish Culture and Tourism Office director Irfan Onal, who says that a growing number of firms are offering tours to Turkey, while many airlines have upped flight numbers and expanded seating capacity to meet rising demand.

Some of the most popular holiday destinations in the region include the city of Istanbul, "due to its combination of culture, food and nightlife", Mr Onal commented.

Cappadocia is also attracting tourists keen to go trekking, horse riding or cave exploring, while other parts of Turkey are drawing holiday makers looking to go sailing and see the area's botanical sights.

Recently, official figures revealed that almost 420,000 UK residents went on a Turkey holiday in June, representing almost 12 per cent per cent of all foreign arrivals during the month.
