Discover some ancient history on a Menorca villa holiday

Travellers who enjoy learning about the destinations they are visiting have been encouraged to see the Trepuco settlement during a Menorca villa holiday.

The area is regarded as one of the island's most important archaeological sites, owing to its large and well-preserved structures.

First excavated by English archaeologist Margaret Murray in 1931, the settlement was immediately recognised as a historical monument.

The area encompasses a number of Bronze Age megaliths known as talayots, including a solid structure that is one of the largest of its kind on the island.

Menorca villa guests can also see a prehistoric table that is thought to have been used for worship and was reconstructed in the early 1970s.

Members of the public can visit the Trepuco settlement free of charge.

People taking holidays in Mahon will find the attraction approximately two kilometres outside the city on the road to Sant Lluis.

Mahon itself is home to several attractions, including a harbour and a historic centre.
