Vence in Cote d'Azur
The picturesque town of Vence boasts a rich and fascinating history. Formerly a Roman settlement, the town is characterised by its maze of cobbled streets, narrow alleyways, vaulted passageways and tiny squares. Historic buildings can be found in abundance, including the beautiful 11th Century Romanesque cathedral. There are plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants with terraces throughout the town, where you can sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy a coffee or meal. The village also hosts a bustling weekly market, where you can absorb the atmosphere and meet the locals. Vence is set amid beautiful countryside of citrus orchards, woodland, olive groves, and fields of lavender and rosemary.
