Sartene in Corsica

The fascinating old town of Sartène is set amid dramatic mountain scenery south east of the coastal resort of Propriano. Sartène has a rich history dating back to medieval times, with stone buildings that were constructed in the 16th century still standing today. Perfect for a leisurely stroll, the picturesque old town is a maze of tall stone houses, alleyways and narrow passages, virtually unchanged in hundreds of years. A great way to pass a relaxing morning or afternoon is to sit back and watch the world go by in one of the many pavement cafes that line the pretty streets and squares. Sartène is known for its excellent wine producing and you will notice many vineyards in the countryside around the town.
