Make your money go further in Andalucia
According to travel journalist Nick Trend, eating and drinking in the region can actually be quite cheap if tourists go to the right places.
He said that in Seville, it is possible to buy a round of drinks for seven people for just over 8 (£6.80), pointing out that this would cost nearer to £25 in London.
Meals in some traditional village restaurants away from the tourist hotspots can also be enjoyed for less than 10 for four people, he claimed.
"Even in the smart tapas bars of Malaga, we ate handsomely for about £10 a head," Mr Trend remarked.
He said families should not therefore think Spain is unaffordable this year compared to other non-euro destinations, as there is great value to be found.
Those on the lookout for some small local eateries away from the crowds could rent Andalucia villas in the village of Frigiliana, which is situated in the foothills of the Sierra de Tejeda Mountains.
Its old medieval quarter is great for exploring on foot and holiday makers can sample some Spanish tapas at some of the many traditional restaurants nearby.
Frigiliana is around 50 minutes from Malaga and within driving distance of Seville for a day trip.
