Check out the Portugal Rally on an Algarve villa holiday
Algarve villa holidays could prove popular among motorsport fans later this year, with a major event set to take place in the region.
The Vodafone Rally de Portugal - the sixth event in this year's World Rally Championship (WRC) season - will take place between May 27th and 30th.
Holiday makers staying in an Algarve villa will be able to choose from various locations from which to watch the contest, which covers approximately 1,000km of tarmac and gravel tracks in southern Portugal.
The European country first held a WRC race in 1973 and is now seen as one of the highlights of the annual rallying calendar.
There will be a number of changes to the Rally de Portugal this year, with the Santa Clara stage set to be run in reverse and other sections featuring new starts or finishes.
Other destinations on the 2010 WRC calendar include Turkey (April 16th-18th) and Spain (October 22nd-24th).
