Why not visit Perugia at Easter?
One of the highlights of the Eater period could be the Desolata Ritual of the Filippini Fathers on April 3rd at the new church of the Filippini Fathers.
Taking place at 6pm, the tradition dates back to the 17th century and Perugia Online claims it is "derived from the particular devotion the fathers have for the figure of the Virgin and her pain".
The performance is "made up of songs, readings, poems and prayers all inspired by the pain of the Virgin on losing her son".
Found just 30 minutes away from Perugia, high in the Tiber valley, is the historical hotspot of Todi.
Those who rent a villa here may find it the perfect base to explore Umbria, while its medieval square is famous throughout Italy for its beauty.
