Join the Benedictine Celebrations on an Umbria villa holiday
According to What's on When, the event takes place on July 10th and 11th at the Piazza San Benedetto in Norcia.
Parades and jousting contests will be taking place to commemorate Saint Benedict, the patron saint of Norcia and the whole of Europe.
Celebrations will begin on the evening of July 10th when representatives from several European countries meet to await the arrival of a torchlit procession.
The following day, numerous other events will be held, including a race between city districts and a medieval crossbow competition.
Holiday makers who wish to visit Norcia could rent an Umbria villa in the village of Castel Rigone, which is just a short drive away from Perugia and therefore not far from Norcia.
It is also just five minutes away from Lake Trasimeno, which could make a great day trip.
