An Umbria holiday is 'joust the way to relax'
From April 23rd to May 10th, Narni will host the event that sees challengers charging horses at a dummy in an attempt to relieve a ring from its nefarious clutches, it has been reported.
According to Perugia Online, the event was once the town's "most important annual pageant" and it is recorded in the city statutes of 1371.
The joust was held into the early 1600s, before being recreated in 1968.
Holiday makers staying in Todi could visit Narni on a day out.
Umbria holiday makers visiting the area on the night before the joust could take the opportunity to see a procession in 14th century costume snake its way through the town's torch-lit streets and be able to dine on local specialities and a range of medieval foods that are served in the local taverns.
