All roads lead to Rome on an Umbria villa holiday
Holiday makers who choose to stay in a villa in Orvieto, one the most ancient cities in Italy, could have a treat in store for them.
Orvieto sits hundreds of meters up in the hills and is sandwiched between Florence and Rome, providing the perfect place to explore what is believed to be one of the founding cities of western culture.
The list of attractions in Rome is endless, with the coliseum a must.
Rome is a comfortable drive from the dramatic Orvieto, which is a sight to behold in itself, particularly if villa holiday makers are looking down from the apex of the Torre del Moro, built in the 13th century.
The heating heart of the city is "undoubtedly" the gothic architectural masterpiece that is Piazza del Duomo, according to Orvieto Online.
