Wine is always welcome on a Tuscany holiday
ANSA observes that a number of initiatives are being launched to promote wine tourism among Tuscany holiday makers.
This year, the Open Cellars initiative - which offers tourists and wine aficionados the chance to sample local food and wine specialities - has been expanded to every last Saturday of the month until April 2009.
Pioneered by the Wine Tourism Movement, the scheme's participants number some 1,000 vineyards and has until now been held on the last Sunday in May.
The article cites a report by social research group Censis, which suggests that wine and food are the second most important reasons for booking Tuscany holidays and are the factor that gives visitors the most satisfaction.
A recent feature in Vinography suggested that Tuscany is the perfect place in which to develop a love for wine.
