Wine Championship, Tuscany

As well as beautiful villas, art, and scenery, Tuscany plays host to the Slow Food Wine Championship in Florence.

The event takes place on 8th and 9th September from 10am to 5pm in the Tuscan city and has been described as an "enological olympics" by the organisers, Slow Food.

A total of 16 teams from all over Italy will come to Tuscany to take part in the competition.

They must answer questions on anything to do with wine, with the questions getting harder as the competition heats up.

The official winner is presented with a bottle of local wine.

Offering tasting stands, where you can taste all kinds of local produce from Tuscany and beyond, including some of the wine, the event will keep you busy.

Workshops, debates, and meetings depicting the philosophies of Slow Food also give holiday makers an opportunity to learn about real Italian food culture.

Slow Food was founded in 1989 as a movement to counter-act fast food, they believe food should be good, clean, and fair.
