Will Tuscany holidays boom after Italy named top European spot?
The Sunday Times Travel Magazine has revealed that Italy emerged as the top location in its reader awards, in news that may be of interest to people booking Tuscany villa holidays.
Readers were reportedly struck particularly by the nation's "phenomenal beauty" and the friendliness of its inhabitants.
Learning of the commendation, the Italian State Tourist Board said: "We are particularly proud of this first place given by the discerning travellers and readers of the Sunday Times Travel Magazine and pleased to see Italy as favourite European country among the British public," according to Go Travel Insurance.
Brits inspired by the poll to book a stay in a Tuscany villa may wish to consider Ghizzano, a village within driving distance of Pisa and Florence.
Its wine producing credentials have been pointed out by UpperCrust, the food, wine and style magazine.
