Watch the Jousting of the Saracens on a Tuscany villa holiday
The contest will take place on September 6th at the Piazza San Francesco and will see knights on horseback compete to win the Golden Lance.
Flag bearers and trumpeters dressed in full medieval costumes will also take to the streets, transporting visitors back in time.
The event attracts hundreds of onlookers who gather to cheer on the knights as they score points on a shield held by a moving puppet called the Saracen.
Contestants require expert horsemanship skills and incredible accuracy in order to achieve the highest scores.
Holiday makers who want to watch this unique event can rent a Tuscany villa in the village of Castiglion Fiorentino, which is close to Arezzo.
Here they can also take in some medieval and Renaissance architecture and view some fascinating artwork, while the cities of Florence and Siena are within driving distance.
