Visit beautiful wine estates on a Tuscany villa holiday
In an article for the Daily Express, writer Sue Bryant said she enjoyed immersing herself in the "gastronomic delights" of Tuscany during her break there.
She described a trip to the "rolling hills" of one wine estate in the valleys close to Pisa, with its "silvery olive groves" and stunning views.
Here, she sampled "buttery" sauvignon blancs and "fruity" Chardonnays, which were accompanied by some mouth-watering Italian dishes.
"Warm, fresh bread studded with sun-dried tomatoes and olives was followed by juicy beef tomatoes with melt-in-the-mouth buffalo mozzarella and homemade pesto," she wrote.
This was followed by traditional lasagne with courgettes and ricotta cheese, with creamy tiramisu for dessert.
Holiday makers hoping to indulge in some fine Italian wines and tour the region's wine-growing estates could rent a Tuscany villa in Volterra.
The vineyards of the Chianti region are close by and could be great for a day trip, during which tourists can learn more about how this particular wine is made.
