With a holiday in a Tuscany villa being an appealing prospect for most, it is perhaps of little surprise that a stunning example is up for sale - complete with views of the beautiful cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, an ornamental garden and an impressive list of previous owners - for around £49 million (66 million euros).
The palazzo is set in 75 acres of rolling Tuscan countryside in the hills around Florence, has 11 vineyards, 2,700 olive trees and a number of beehives producing sweet, aromatic honey.
The site of the Villa Poggio Torselli dates back to the early 15th century and the estate is being sold by an unnamed industrialist, having previously been home to famous Italian families the Machiavellis, Corsinis, the Orlandinis and the Strozzis.
Rumoured to be up for sale last year, movie stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were understood to have expressed an interest in the historic house, the Times reports.
For those keen to sample a similar lifestyle as the one enjoyed by the villa owner - with its breathtaking countryside, historic cities, towns, restaurants, buildings, galleries and shops - a holiday in a family villa in Tuscany is a great base to start from.
