Tuscany holidays "hugely popular"
According to the Independent, the breadth of the Italian experience can make a Tuscany villa all things to all people.
"The scenery, climate, food and wines and the Italian people themselves make Tuscany a great place to have any kind of holiday," notes the newspaper's Peter Victor.
Painting, cycling, hiking, eating, drinking or merely relaxing - all can be enjoyed in historic, refreshing surroundings in the Italian hotspot, a favourite with discerning travellers for years.
A highlight of the writer's Tuscany holiday was Montalcino, where "outstanding wines" were sampled at the Biondi Santi vineyard, he notes.
The hilltop town, famed for its top quality wines, is home to a ruined castle, a Benedictine abbey and a number of other archaeological sites of interest.
Located some 42 km from Siena, a villa trip to the town could be an ideal way to combine authentic Tuscany with the tourist hotspots.
