Tuscany holidays 'good for roving wine connoisseurs'
Vinography has suggested that Tuscany holidays could be the place to develop an informed love of wine against a romantic and picturesque backdrop.
Indeed, a brief affair with the Italian hotspot could turn into a life-long relationship, the blog points out, telling the story of expatriates Brigitte and Bruno Widmer.
The couple took a Tuscany holiday in 1981 and loved the landscape, the culture, the food and the wine so much they decided to buy their own Tuscany villa.
When their new property came with 21 acres of grapes, the pair were persuaded by neighbours to try their hand at making wine - a chain of events that led to their 1983 vintage winning first place at a Chianti Classico blind tasting.
In related news, Tuscany was recently named "the wine region we toast" by readers of Virtuoso Life magazine.
