Tuscany holidays 'good autumn choice'
Kristin Jackson of the Seattle Times advised one reader looking for October-November trip inspiration that a Tuscany holiday could be just the ticket for those looking to escape the darkening nights.
For those looking to book a two-week holiday, a week in Florence leaves ample time to explore the charming hill towns of Tuscany, with the south highlighted as a particular hotspot.
Renting a car could be a good way to explore the often-surprising area, the newspaper points out.
"Get a good map and just wander on the back roads; there's an enchanting hill town around every bend," the publication notes.
Siena, home to the town of Colle Val d'Elsa, is also described as a highlight of a Tuscany holiday.
According to In Italy Online, Tuscany is "equally blessed by the genius of man and nature and often by the combined efforts of both".
