Tuscany holidays 'don't have to break the bank'

As Britons search for the most cost-effective way to travel in style, one newspaper has offered some tips for minimising expenses on a Tuscany holiday.

The Times has observed that Tuscany holidays can be enjoyed on a budget if approached correctly, giving credit crunch travellers some valuable pieces of advice before their summer break.

"When you're planning a day out, don’t neglect the local tourist office, for free maps and advice on walks suited to your kids' ages," the article recommended.

People thinking about a Tuscany villa break in Volterra were advised to seek out the region's audioguides, available for €5 (£4) at the tourist office.

This can save on guided tours and equip families with the knowledge necessary to enjoy the AD1398 festival in Volterra, the newspaper stated.

Volterra is home to the Museo Guarnicci, which houses one of Italy's major archaeological collections that includes the Etruscan statue Ombra della Sera, or Shadow of the Night.
