Tuscany holidays 'a chance to explore'
A recent article in the Times highlighted the Italian region as one of the best places for walking in Europe.
Vincent Crump's journey began at San Gimignano, which he described as the "textbook Tuscan hill town".
After enjoying the 13th century skyscrapers and museums dedicated to torture and sacred art, the writer had received enough of a culture-boost to last him through a mountain trek.
"Soon, though, bellicose architecture gives way to absolute serenity and my walk stretches before me like a long and especially enjoyable Italian lunch," he wrote.
A walled medieval hill town, San Gimignano is located in Siena, a popular destination for people on Tuscany holidays.
The small town is renowned as the site where the white wine Vernaccia di San Gimignano is produced.
Meanwhile, Travelbite.co.uk recently recommended Florence as a way to get an authentic taste of Italy.
