Tuscany holiday 'perfect for trying wines and cheeses'
The wines and cheeses of Tuscany may appeal to travellers taking a villa holiday in the region, the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch reported this weekend.
According to the newspaper, Tuscany is a top destination for those who enjoy fine food and drink and custom wine and cheese tours may prove popular with visitors.
Meanwhile, a recent report in the Telegraph suggested that a trip to the Italian region could provide an incentive to experiment with healthy, seasonal Tuscan produce. The newspaper asserted that Tuscan food, such as tomatoes, fresh basil and extra-virgin olive oil, is high in antioxidants that could help prevent sunburn.
People taking a villa holiday in Tuscany in September may also be interested in taking in a number of medieval-themed events taking place in the region, including a jousting tournament in Arezzo on the first Sunday in September and a crossbow competition - in which all entrants wear medieval costumes and use antique weapons - on the second Sunday of the month, according to discovertuscany.com.
