Tuscany celebrates genius
Taking place in April and May, 'Florentine Genius' is a new initiative promoted by the area of Florence that is dedicated to figures such as Leonardo, Boccaccio and Dante who all contributed to its fame.
Exhibitions, performances, conventions, fashion shows and readings are just a few of the activities available to holidaymakers looking to take a break in the cultural region of Tuscany.
Gastronomic events will also be available allowing visitors to sample some of the delicacies of the region.
Those who attend the event will learn about Florence and its art, poetry, science and politics and leave with a sense of pride and understanding of Tuscany's identity.
Speaking to the events' website, Matteo Renzi, governor of the Florence province, said: "This land is a platform from which to address the world, backed by an enthusiasm bred of our great past and, above all, our desire to look ahead."
