Tuscan villa holiday makers 'inspired by Renaissance spirit'
Tingting Cojuangco of the Philippine Star noted that some of the greatest Italians hailed from the region, including Galileo, Botticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo DaVinci.
And while Tuscany has plenty of history to reflect upon, villa holiday makers in the region with more modern tastes will no doubt find plenty to keep them busy in the shops, as the area is the birthplace of labels such as Ferragamo, Prada, up-and-coming jewellery label Dodo and established retailer Pomellato.
Foodies are spoilt for choice as the region offers a variety of bread, salami and prosciutto ham, while those looking to bag a bargain will find vendors galore selling clothes, furniture and accessories at weekly flea markets.
Tuscany offers plenty for the whole family to enjoy, with a plethora of child-friendly entertainment on offer in Florence.
A report in the Florentine month noted that English-language children's programmes - created for youngsters between the ages of seven and 12 - are offered on Saturday mornings in the Palazzo Strossi until the end of August.
